How to buy a globe

Please start the process by simply placing an order directly through our website. This is a generic 50% deposit based on your chosen size – and the balance will reflect your final choice of colour, base, and optional added personalisation. We will be in touch shortly thereafter to confirm your order and let you know the next steps.

You are welcome to call or studio or email Jade at jade@bellerbyglobemakers.com to discuss the options and any questions you might have ahead of an order as well. If you prefer to make payment over the phone or be invoiced via email that is of course fine as well.

What’s included in the price

Your one-of-a-kind globe and base, fully bespoke, each one handcrafted.

No VAT, unless you live in the UK, so thats 20% off the price, which usually more than covers the shipping cost.

Local taxes may be applied by your local customs.

Safe packaging and insurance, and help with the shipping process. All large globes are tracked with apple trackers, so we can be extra sure of its safe arrival and track its journey.

You may visit the studio to start the process of commissioning your bespoke globe. Please get in touch to discuss a day and time.

Personalising your globe

With each globe made bespoke to order we can personalise in endless ways. This can be bespoke cartography, travel routes or hand drawn and hand painted illustrations. This is a process we will guide you through and explain in detail. Some styles of bases also include an engraving which is the perfect place for names, dates, or short sentiments.

This listing is to book in for a Silk Route globe with route details, highlighted cities and hand drawn and hand painted illustrations. No two globes will never be replicated the same but attached is an idea on how your globe would look in one suggested colour option.

From a Mini Desk Globe to a large floor standing style. A bespoke version or variation of this globe can also be ordered in any size (22cm, 36cm, 50cm, 65cm, 80cm or 127cm diameter) – and with many options of colouring for the ocean / land you see across our collections.

You can choose any colour, any base, any size and options of additional personalisation (personalisation guide).

Though we have a set suggestion in place for what illustrations are where – this is optional and as always we can design the globe as you would like it.

The Silk Road was a network of ancient trade routes that connected east and west for more than 1,500 years. Spanning almost all of Asia, with routes going from Europe, through the Middle East, Central Asia and China, crossing dangerous and daunting landscapes from precarious mountain ranges to unforgiving deserts. These routes were not a single road but a complex web of interconnected paths that spanned thousands of miles, both overland and by sea, and they were instrumental in shaping the civilisations along the way. Smaller trade roads and sea routes would branch off to connect even further places such as South East Asia, Northern Europe and Africa. It played a significant role in facilitating cultural exchange and the trade of goods, including silk, spices, precious metals and more. The historical routes on this globe are highlighted with modern towns and cites with relative heritage alongside ruins and ancient sites, which in their heyday contributed to the profound impact the Silk Road had on the development of societies and remains a symbol of cross-cultural interaction.

With your globe handmade and hand painted it would be impossible! Each one is made bespoke – your version or variation can be ordered in a variety of sizes, colours, styles of base. Size options are 22cm, 36cm, 50cm, 65cm, 80cm or 127cm diameter.

Choose which diameter globe you would like. The pricing reflects the globe having over the Silk Route illustrations as shown – these are all hand painted illustrations.

We do not recommend using Gagarin or Cassini colouring with this amount of illustrations. If you do choose our Gagarin or Cassini colouring, then the price will be higher and we may suggest some illustrations that are on land not be included or be moved slightly.

You are welcome to commission your own unique version with added illustrations like monuments on other continents, your own house, your pets, or family portraits. We can also add more travel routes and bespoke cartography like quotes, dates, names, or favourite cities highlighted. Additional illustrations and design work will be quoted on top. We will go through a mocking up and approval process with you ahead of finalising your choices on your globe.

The colouring shown here is a 22cm Mint Green “Ocean-Shaded” – 36cm Glacial Cassini (priced higher) – and a 50cm Sea Green also “Ocean-Shaded” – and can be paired with your choice of base (wood choices subject to style and sizing) with an added personalised engraving (different options depending on sizing and style of base). Aluminium, Brass and Bronze are available at a higher price and only in some sizes.

If you would like us to send a gift card, please go ahead and book in for a deposit and we will confirm details of the gift card with you via email.

Shipping will be quoted on top for the larger sized globes – and applied to your final invoice.
